I hate Mondays! My alarm clock failed to wake me up this morning, so I got a late start. Had to compete for the shower, which made me even more rushed to get ready for work! Then there were TWO (not just one, but TWO) car accidents blocking the roads on the way to work, causing me to have to detour TWICE to get to work! By the time I got to work I was wishing I had just stayed in bed and called in for a personal day off!

My best friend wants to buy a van. She wants to use it to take crafts she makes to local craft fairs, hoping to make some money off of her favorite hobby. She wants me to join her in her “weekend” business by helping her load the van at her house and going to the fairs with her, unloading the van at the fair and setting up her display and then help her man her table at the fair. She’s offered to pay me a percentage of the money that she takes in. I’m not sure that she will really make any money doing this, but I told her I’d help her for one season.
I’m really concerned that the cost of gas is going so high that she’s not going to be able to drive it out of her driveway! But, she is pretty insistent, and she is telling me that right now the prices of vans are getting lower because of the gas crisis. I’ve told her that if she is so insistent on buying a van I will help her try to find the best insurance by doing some Internet research on the coverage and prices that are available from the many different insurance providers.

I don’t know how I stumbled across this particular CNN website yesterday, but the headlines were disheartening: Fed sees more tough times ahead. The article goes on to say that the Federal Reserve sees both unemployment and inflation rising in the year ahead. That news does not surprise me, but it does discourage me. It is getting harder and harder to make ends meet. I’m working two jobs, putting in twelve hours a day and am looking for a third job and still not making enough to pay the bills. These are tough times, for sure.

I am a big believer in composting and recycling. I have been composting for several years now, and I want to encourage everyone who might be reading this blog to compost also if it is at all possible for you to do.
Composting helps to keep landfills from being filled with things that will not break down if they are not composted properly. Composting turns garbage into wonderful fertile soil enrichment material for gardens and a healthy lawn.
If you compost properly, the garbage breaking down will not smell bad and you will have a great sense of pride in knowing that you are helping the environment instead of hurting it!

I was reading an interesting article on the Internet about the Nouveau Riche. Nouveau Riche is a French word meaning “new rich.” The article I was reading from was cnnmoney, and it was explaining how many of the people who are experiencing “rags to riches” successes are managing to do it in today’s economy. The article lists over a dozen ventures that have been determined as very promising high income enterprises for those people who have a little bit of capital to invest, a sense of adventure, and a lot of business savvy. The article does not limit the geographical location of the businesses to the USA, rather it goes completely global.
