Life

An interesting day

Friday, July 8th, 2011

Randy has been encouraging me to start a new career, selling life insurance. He let me job shadow him today so I could see what I could expect if I decided to try it.

We called on three customers today, and he closed on all three sales. He used the exact same sales pitch on all three customers, but they were like putty in his hands. I found it extremely interesting to watch. He made himself over a thousand dollars today while I watched him do it! Maybe I’ll give it a try!

Funny song – The Mom Song!

A good friend sent me the link to this video/song. It took me a while to figure out how to put it into a post to share it with you, but I really laughed so hard when I saw/heard it that I just HAD to do it! I hope you get a really good laugh out of it too!

DisneyWorld vacation

Guest post by Monica Kochelee

A few of my friends and I just got back from a vacation at DisneyWorld. We flew down and took a shuttle from the airport to the condo that we were renting, and then used the condo’s courtesy shuttle to go from the condo to DisneyWorld and back again. There were lots of restaurants within walking distance of the condo so we never had to rent a car.

What a great trip that was! I loved walking around and people watching more than anything else; that is something that I seem to enjoy doing a lot.

I think that the Haunted Mansion was my favorite attraction at the Magic Kingdom. And at Epcot Center I really liked the boat ride through “The Land” where you ride a boat through some greenhouses and listen to them talk about new ways to grow food. I thought that was very interesting! And at MGM I think my favorite attraction was the Backstage tour. But I really enjoyed watching the parades, and all of the streetside performances. So much fun! I would LOVE to live down there and work at DisneyWorld! Maybe I’ll apply for a job there and IF I get it then I’d move.

Mud slinging

I keep hearing about how Donald Trump is running for president on the Republican ticket. One of the things that concerns me about that is how many very heated and nasty public disagreements he has been involved in.

One of the biggest jobs of President is diplomacy. I haven’t seen much of that coming from Mr. Trump. I find it difficult to fathom that he could actually be elected. But if he wants to spend a lot of money on a politcal campaign, I’m sure the economy would be grateful for having his money circulating among the working class!

Tax refund

Monday, April 18th, 2011

I finally got my taxes done and e-filed them last night. I wasn’t procrastinating on purpose, I’ve just been too busy to get to them until now. I was really glad to see that I’ll be getting a tax refund this year. A lot of people make a point of reducing their deductions so that they don’t get a tax refund, but I find that having MORE taxes taken out than necessary works good for me. Granted, I don’t get paid interest on the money, but I like getting a refund in the spring, and it’s better than worrying that I might actually have to PAY taxes and be charged a penalty!

I’m glad it’s filed, and am looking forward to my refund. It’s not much, but at least I don’t have to pay any this year!
