Just joined Technorati

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Hi folks!  At my sister’s suggestion, I just joined Technorait!  If you would like to check out my Technorati Profile, click on the link!  She said that joining Technorati is a good move to make if you want other folks to find your own blog easier!  I’m curious to learn more about it!

Looking forward to trying a new recipe

In a couple of weeks I will be attending a Red Hatter club meeting, where we are all to bring a contribution of a dish prepared from one of the Red Hat Society cookbooks. Yesterday I went over to our “queen’s” house and borrowed her Red Hat Society cookbooks to look through.

I love to browse through cookbooks, and dream of having the time to try so many yummy dishes, and dream of having a family that is willing to try them all! I found several recipes that I would like to try on my own for my family. I’ve invited my younger sis to join us for the Red Hatter event, and emailed her one of the recipes for her to fix and bring. It sounds really yummy and easy to whip up. I hope she comes, and brings it!

This is the recipe I sent her to try:

“Pink Stuff”

From the Red Hat Society cookbook pg 276

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1 (12oz) container whipped topping, thawed

1 (20 oz) can cherry pie filling

1 (15 oz) can crushed pineapple, well drained

1 (15 oz) can mandarin oranges, drained

Red food coloring – a few drops, optional

Stir together the condensed milk and whipped topping. Fold in the cherry pie filling. Fold in the pineapple and oranges. If you want a deeper pink color, add a few drops of red food coloring. Refrigerate at least 4 hours prior to serving.

I’m looking forward to the event!

Too much rain!

Friday, May 8th, 2009

There has been so much rain around here lately that it has been hard to do any outside work. My mother had hired some people to do some remodeling of her house and they got their trucks stuck up to the axles in her back yard! They tore her back yard up very badly trying to get unstuck! They also ruined her drain field for her septic system! What a mess! We told them that they were going to have to pay to have the lawn fixed, and the drain field, and they weren’t happy to hear that at all! But they should have known better than to have driven over the lawn and drain field! Big dummies!

PS 3

Just spoke with my sister on the phone. Her son recently bought a new Play Station 3. He is very impressed with it thus far, after playing only a couple of games. He could only find the system with the 40 GB hard drive but plans on getting another Play Station 3 when the new Socom is released on the system so he and his friends can play games online together.

The controllers are wireless and light weight and don’t require batteries. He bought an extra controller so he could play games with friends. He has been having a blast playing Call of Duty 4 online but he is looking forward to playing some of the other games he bought – Drakes Fortune and Unreal Tournament 3.

When the death of HD was announced he decided to buy a Play Station 3 because in order to compete with the new Play Station 3 the XBOX system now has to either sell a blu-ray add-on to the XBOX system or release a new system with better graphics or more power than the Play Station.

Thinking green

Monday, April 6th, 2009

My youngest son has shamed me into replacing the standard incandescent light bulbs throughout the house with CFL bulbs. The CFL bulbs use less electricity, so that makes them environmentally friendly, and it will save money on the electric bill. It took a while for me to find 3-Way CFL bulbs, finally found them at the local ACE Hardware store.

There are a few older light fixtures in the ceiling that are too small for the CFL bulbs that I bought to fit into. So, I will have to keep my eyes open for different sizes and shapes of CFL bulbs to fit into those.
