It seems that when the heat is high outside, my kitchen becomes the hottest room in the house. I will do anything to avoid having to spend an hour in the kitchen cooking with the hot stove and oven making the room heat up. So I’ve become a great fan of cold summer salads.

I took today off of work to get ready for the big holiday weekend. We’re having the entire extended family coming over for most of the weekend. We’ve rented a couple of nearby camps for some of them to stay in, some of them will be staying here with us. Everyone’s chipping in and taking turns cooking big family meals and it is going to be “reunion weekend.”

We’ll be spending time boating, tubing, skiing, jet skiing, and swimming. We’ll be going to see a local fireworks display tomorrow night. I’m looking forward to seeing folks I haven’t seen in a while and having a great time!

A few of my friends and I just got back from a vacation at DisneyWorld. We flew down and took a shuttle from the airport to the condo that we were renting, and then used the condo’s courtesy shuttle to go from the condo to DisneyWorld and back again. There were lots of restaurants within walking distance of the condo so we never had to rent a car.

What a great trip that was! I loved walking around and people watching more than anything else; that is something that I seem to enjoy doing a lot.

I think that the Haunted Mansion was my favorite attraction at the Magic Kingdom. And at Epcot Center I really liked the boat ride through “The Land” where you ride a boat through some greenhouses and listen to them talk about new ways to grow food. I thought that was very interesting! And at MGM I think my favorite attraction was the Backstage tour. But I really enjoyed watching the parades, and all of the streetside performances. So much fun! I would LOVE to live down there and work at DisneyWorld! Maybe I’ll apply for a job there and IF I get it then I’d move.

I’m all for advances in technology; I embrace it! But I do have to say that I think it is very rude for people to be involved in text messaging while pretending to have a conversation with someone else. If I am eating dinner with someone at a restaurant, I would be highly offended if that person started text messaging someone else, and I think I would get up from the table and go home! I also think that text messaging while driving is very dangerous and should be illegal!
