How to Maintain Your Air Conditioner

Your air conditioner was a major home expense and it needs to be properly maintained so it will work efficiently for many years. Some maintenance you can do yourself while other maintenance requires contacting AC Service in Atlanta. Here are some things you can do to maintain your air conditioner.

Air Filters

Replacing the air filters regularly is the simplest and cheapest maintenance task and yet one of the most important. How often you change the filter will depend on the type you use. The cheap, thin ones need to be replaced monthly and the slightly more expensive pleated ones can go several months. Always check the manufacturer’s instructions.

Clean the Exterior Unit

You need to occasionally inspect the outside unit to see if anything is blocking the air flow. Rake or clear away any leaves or debris that has accumulated around the unit. Also clip or dig out any grass or vegetation that has grown up and onto the outside of the unit.

Yearly Inspection by Professionals

Once a year, a technician should inspect your AC system. This is highly recommended in order to catch small problems and fix them before they become large repairs. The technician will inspect, tune-up and clean your system.

Planning a costume party

Our family loves to throw elaborate costume parties for the entire neighborhood to celebrate Halloween. We feel that it is a great way to protect the kids from potential harm from psychos during the Halloween season, and have a lot of fun while doing it! We spend weeks looking at what Halloween Costumes we want to wear for the party, and planning the menu. This year we are going to use hot dogs to make scary “finger rolls” along with other scary-looking foods.

This year my brother has decided that he wants to be a zombie. My father wants one of the costumes of Olaf, the snowman from the movie “Frozen.” I am going to dress up as a belly dancer, using an old costume that my sister gave me a few years ago.

Fixing a computer problem from afar

My uncle called my father earlier today, complaining that he was having some troubles with his new computer. He asked my father to come fix it.  Well, my father really didn’t want to drive all the way over to his house to check it out, so he hooked up to my uncles’ computer with our computer, using a Remote Access service. This is a really cool service that allows you to access someone else’s computer from your computer at home. You have to have someone on each end type in some passwords and permissions to get it going, so security isn’t a problem. I was watching them work on the problem; I thought it was really cool!

How to Save money on Outdoor Design

For most homeowners, the outdoor space is the last to be decorated. Others will even choose function over style to make the most of the space on a small budget. However, the outdoor area of your home should be serene and ready for entertaining guests. Even with the smallest budget, it’s possible to create the ideal deck or patio space for all of your needs.

  • Opt to perform the work on your deck by yourself. One of the biggest costs of design is hiring a contractor to perform the work. Fortunately, there are a wide range of videos and tutorials available online that perform thorough instruction on how to perform many home remodel projects.
  • Repurpose furniture and other recyclable items from yard sales or around the home to save money, as well. Wooden pallets, dressers and the like can be transformed into planters, shelves and even seating for a fraction of the costs of brand new items.
  • Research items found in local stores to secure the best price. Often times the easiest way to save money is by finding patio furniture on sale. Many stores may even have in-store prices lower than online items to reward their customers.

School buses

Well, school has started again, which means that drivers are seeing the school buses out on the road again. Due to new restrictions, and fuel economy, all of the buses have been governed down to have a maximum speed limit of only 45 mph! This is a real drag when you are in a hurry and find yourself stuck behind a school bus when you are in a hurry and can’t find a safe place to pass! I feel sorry for the bus driver, too, because I KNOW they would like to be able to drive faster if their bus doesn’t have any kids in it!
