Not long ago I was reading someone’s blog about saving money online. The blogger was recommending a service from amazon.com that I had never heard of in the past. The service is called “subscribe and save.” The service is essentially one where you sign up to have regular shipments of things, like paper towels, pet food, bathroom tissue, laundry detergent, sent to you, through their service. The prices are competitive with the local stores here and they ship the items for free.
I signed up and got a 15% discount on a lot of the items. I guess that is one of their bonus features for the first time you order a particular product. So far I’ve gone ahead and ordered a lot of things from them the amazon.com subscribe and save service. I’ve been pleased with everything that I’ve ordered.
The main point is that I’m ordering things in bulk, items that I already purchase (as in the brand that I use) and I am saving myself a lot of time and trouble by having the items delivered for free instead of having to find the time to go to the store to pick them up myself.
Normally I am all about buying local, but these are items that I end up having to buy at one of the chain stores anyway, so I don’t feel as if I’m causing a small local businessman any grief. I think that this amazon.com subscribe and save program is awesome!
